About Role
This is a high impact, product-focused role and the ideal candidate will be eager to roll up their sleeves and problem-solve on complex, strategic, privacy-forward issues, working closely with Messenger’s cross-functional partners and other legal teams to develop and implement compliance solutions to support messaging product teams’ initiatives. You will have the unique opportunity to tackle some of the most nuanced and novel privacy issues impacting global messaging. The ideal candidate will be ready to develop and triage ongoing privacy legal strategies for Messenger.

Job Responsibilities
A- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and global privacy laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR, LGPD, ePrivacy and other global privacy laws) and advise on the impact of the same on Meta’s business.
B- Work closely with product lawyers in evaluating the practical impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product features and development/long term strategy.
C- Support members of Meta’s product, engineering, legal, security, policy, and other business teams on data use, privacy and security-related legal matters.
D- Develop regulatory strategy with relevant privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives and maintain Meta’s ongoing privacy-by-design processes.
Job Requirements
A- Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations, with knowledge of relevant global privacy laws (including GDPR, CCPA, ePD, LGPD, etc.), and/or privacy regulations.
B- 5+ years of practicing legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience.
C- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and active membership in at least one US state bar.
D- In-house or government experience with applicable privacy, regulatory, or product counseling, particularly at a technology, social media or messaging company.
E- Experience working independently, quickly and accurately to assess legal, practical, and business risks, and provide clear guidance.
