Airport Duty Manager: Overview

Airport Duty Manager: Job Purpose
As the Operations Duty Manager, you will oversee cargo hub operations at Dubai International Airport (DXB) on a rotational shift basis. Your primary focus will be on enhancing productivity and optimizing resources to achieve operational objectives while maintaining stringent adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards and procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee primary operational functions to ensure optimal performance, facilitating the assignment of appropriately skilled personnel to tasks as needed.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the operations team, focusing on performance management, skills enhancement, and identifying development opportunities.
- Cultivate professional relationships with internal departments to support departmental objectives effectively.
- Assess team performance against predefined goals and objectives, delivering constructive feedback aligned with Emirates’ performance management principles.
- Address conduct and conflicts within the team in accordance with established policies, ensuring fairness and impartiality.
- Lead monthly safety meetings centered on investigation, audits, and corrective measures to uphold safety, security, and regulatory standards without compromise.
- Ensure thorough investigation of all safety incidents and accidents, offering guidance and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, including SMS and IOSA.
- Compile daily reports on hub operations and SkyCargo service levels, proposing adjustments for the continual enhancement of SkyCargo Service Delivery.
- Recommend updates to Standard Operating Procedures as necessary, fostering team involvement in continuous improvement initiatives and innovative approaches.
- Ensure proper handling, documentation, and escalation of deviations in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
Airport Duty Manager : Qualifications
- A degree or honors (equivalent to 12+3 years of education) is preferred.
- A qualification in logistics and operations management or a related field would be beneficial.
Relevant work experience is required
- Logistics/Cargo/Other: 8+ years of experience.
- Substantial experience in cargo operations, including at least 5 years of supervisory experience leading operational teams.
- Proficiency in cargo load planning.
- Hands-on experience in ramp handling.
Airport Duty Manager: Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in IATA cargo handling procedures and regulations.
- Comprehensive understanding of aircraft handling, weight and balance, load planning, and dangerous goods regulations.
- Demonstrated capability to resolve conflicts and address irregularities effectively.
- Proven track record of mentoring and coaching.
- Familiarity with risk analysis, airline quality management systems, and ISO9001/2000 procedures.
- Minimum certification in Dangerous Goods Category 8.
